Advanced Technology

AIROC Hospitals is equipped with world-class medical technology designed to enhance diagnostic accuracy, treatment precision, and patient safety. Our advanced infrastructure enables faster diagnosis, minimally invasive procedures, and better clinical outcomes.

Brachytherapy or Internal Radiation Therapy

Brachytherapy or Internal Radiation Therapy

CyberKnife

CyberKnife

At AIROC Hospitals, CyberKnife delivers highly focused beams of radiation to tumours from hundreds of different angles using a robotic arm, with continuous image guidance that tracks the tumour as it moves with your breathing. Despite the name, there is no cutting and no anaesthesia. Treatment is completed in one to five painless outpatient sessions, and patients typically return to normal activity immediately afterwards. Advanced Robotic Radiosurgery in Hyderabad Conventional radiotherapy delivers a modest dose each day over five to seven weeks, because the beams must pass through healthy tissue that cannot tolerate more. CyberKnife inverts that approach. A compact linear accelerator mounted on a robotic arm moves around the patient, delivering narrow beams from hundreds of distinct positions that intersect precisely at the tumour. Each individual beam is weak enough to leave the tissue it passes through unharmed; where they converge, the combined dose is high enough to destroy the target. This allows an entire course of treatment to be compressed into one to five sessions. What distinguishes the system is what it does about movement. Tumours in the lung, liver, and pancreas shift several centimetres with each breath, and conventional treatment compensates by irradiating a larger margin around the target. CyberKnife instead takes X-ray images throughout treatment and adjusts the robotic arm in real time to follow the tumour as it moves, so the margin can be kept tight. Nothing needs to be bolted to the skull, no invasive head frame is required, and patients breathe normally throughout. Treatment is planned by our radiation oncologists with medical physicists and reviewed at multidisciplinary tumour board, and every plan undergoes independent physics verification before delivery. AIROC Hospitals is a NABH and JCI accredited facility operating under AERB-compliant radiation safety protocols.

PET-CT

PET-CT

At AIROC Hospitals, PET-CT combines two scans in a single examination — a PET scan showing how actively tissue is using glucose, and a CT scan showing precise anatomy. Because cancer cells consume sugar far faster than normal tissue, active disease lights up on the PET images, and the CT overlay pinpoints exactly where it sits. This makes PET-CT the most accurate single test for staging many cancers, assessing whether treatment is working, and detecting recurrence. Advanced PET-CT Imaging in Hyderabad A CT or MRI scan shows structure — the size and position of a mass. What it cannot reliably tell you is whether that mass is active cancer, scar tissue from previous treatment, or an inflammatory node. PET-CT answers that question by imaging metabolism. A small quantity of radioactive glucose tracer is injected, taken up preferentially by metabolically active cells, and detected by the scanner. Combined with CT in the same sitting, the result is a single set of images showing both what a lesion is doing and precisely where it is. This changes management decisions more often than most patients expect. PET-CT frequently identifies disease in nodes or distant sites that were not visible on conventional imaging, altering the stage and therefore the entire treatment plan — sometimes sparing a patient major surgery that would not have achieved its purpose. It also distinguishes residual active tumour from post-treatment fibrosis, a distinction that CT alone often cannot make. Scans are acquired on low-dose protocols and reported by nuclear medicine specialists working alongside our oncology, radiology, and surgical teams, with findings presented at multidisciplinary tumour board where they inform treatment directly. AIROC Hospitals is a NABH and JCI accredited facility operating under AERB-compliant radiation safety protocols.

Digital X-Ray

Digital X-Ray

At AIROC Hospitals, digital radiography replaces conventional X-ray film with electronic detectors that capture the image directly. The result is a lower radiation dose, an image available within seconds rather than after processing, and the ability to adjust brightness and contrast without repeating the exposure. Digital X-ray remains the first imaging test for most chest, bone, joint, and abdominal problems — quick, inexpensive, widely applicable, and often all that is needed to answer the question. Digital X-Ray Services in Hyderabad X-ray is the oldest medical imaging technique and still the most frequently performed, because for a large range of clinical questions it is simply the right test. A suspected fracture, a chest infection, a swallowed foreign body, joint alignment before surgery — these are answered faster and at lower cost by a plain radiograph than by any advanced scan. The move from film to digital detectors has made it better on every axis that matters: dose reduction of a substantial margin over film-based systems, images available immediately on the console, and post-processing that lets the radiographer optimise contrast for soft tissue or bone without exposing the patient again. Fewer repeat exposures matters more than it sounds. With film, an under- or over-exposed image meant repeating the X-ray and doubling the dose. Digital capture has a wide latitude, so most images can be corrected on screen. We apply the ALARA principle — keeping dose As Low As Reasonably Achievable — with paediatric protocols at reduced settings, collimation limiting the beam strictly to the area of interest, and lead shielding where appropriate. Images are stored digitally and available to your treating doctor across the hospital immediately, with no film to carry or lose, and are reported by consultant radiologists. AIROC Hospitals is a NABH and JCI accredited facility operating under AERB-compliant radiation safety protocols.

Genomics and Molecular Diagnostics

Genomics and Molecular Diagnostics

At AIROC Hospitals, our Department of Molecular and Clinical Genomics uses next-generation sequencing to read the genetic makeup of a tumour and identify the specific mutations driving it. This information allows oncologists to select therapies matched to an individual patient's cancer rather than working through treatments by trial and error, to predict which drugs are likely to work and which are not, to assess prognosis, and to screen families for inherited cancer risk. Cancer Genomics & Precision Diagnostics at AIROC Cancer is fundamentally a disease of the genome. Two patients with tumours that look identical under the microscope may carry entirely different mutations, respond to entirely different drugs, and face entirely different outcomes. Genomic profiling reads those mutations directly, turning a broad diagnosis such as "lung adenocarcinoma" into a specific molecular description that points towards the treatments most likely to work — and, just as importantly, away from those that will only cause toxicity without benefit. Advances in next-generation sequencing have made this practical in routine care rather than research alone, with turnaround times and costs now a fraction of what they were a decade ago. Our genomics centre offers comprehensive diagnostics to patients treated at AIROC and referred from elsewhere, covering targeted hotspot panels through to comprehensive genomic profiling, hereditary cancer screening, and liquid biopsy. Results are analysed on advanced bioinformatic and interpretation platforms, reviewed by our molecular team, and presented to treating oncologists at multidisciplinary tumour board meetings so that the genomic findings are acted on in full clinical context. Because histopathology, clinical laboratory services, and genomics sit within the same institution, additional molecular testing can usually be performed on tissue already stored, without a repeat biopsy.

CT Scan

CT Scan

At AIROC Hospitals, CT scanning uses X-rays acquired from multiple angles and reconstructed by computer into detailed cross-sectional images of the body. Where a plain X-ray flattens everything into a single overlapping view, CT separates structures slice by slice and can rebuild them in three dimensions. It is fast enough for emergency use — a head scan takes seconds — and detailed enough for cancer staging, surgical planning, and mapping blood vessels without an incision. Advanced CT Imaging in Hyderabad CT occupies a particular place in medicine: it is the test you reach for when you need a great deal of information quickly. In a patient with major trauma, sudden severe headache, or an acute abdomen, a scan taking under a minute can distinguish a bleed from a clot, a perforation from an obstruction, or an injury requiring immediate surgery from one that can be observed. Multi-slice scanners acquire an entire chest or abdomen in a single breath-hold, which matters both for image quality and for patients who are unwell and cannot lie still for long. The same speed and spatial detail make CT central to cancer care — staging disease, planning surgery and radiotherapy, guiding biopsies, and measuring response to treatment across serial scans. Because CT uses ionising radiation, dose discipline is not optional. We apply iterative reconstruction to produce diagnostic images at substantially reduced exposure, use weight- and age-adjusted paediatric protocols, restrict scan coverage to the area under question, and check whether a previous scan or a non-radiation alternative such as ultrasound or MRI would answer the question instead. Every study is reported by consultant radiologists, with oncology cases reviewed at multidisciplinary tumour board. AIROC Hospitals is a NABH and JCI accredited facility operating under AERB-compliant radiation safety protocols.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound

At AIROC Hospitals, ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves rather than radiation to produce live images of organs, blood vessels, muscles, and developing babies. Because it is entirely free of ionising radiation, it can be used safely in pregnancy, repeated as often as needed, and used in children without hesitation. It shows movement as it happens — a beating heart, blood flowing through an artery, a baby shifting position — which no static scan can do. Ultrasound & Colour Doppler Services in Hyderabad Ultrasound is the most-used imaging test in medicine for good reason. It is quick, inexpensive, involves no radiation, requires no injection for most examinations, and gives an answer while the patient is still on the couch. For gallstones, kidney stones, liver texture, thyroid nodules, ovarian cysts, and virtually all of pregnancy care, it is not merely an acceptable first test — it is the best one. Colour Doppler extends the same machine to show blood flow direction and speed, which is how deep vein thrombosis, arterial narrowing, varicose vein reflux, and blood supply to a transplanted organ or a developing fetus are assessed. Ultrasound is also uniquely operator-dependent, and this deserves saying plainly: the quality of the scan depends on the person holding the probe as much as on the machine. The same equipment in different hands produces materially different results, because the operator chooses the windows, angles, and pressure that reveal or conceal a finding. Our examinations are performed by trained sonologists and consultant radiologists rather than delegated to technicians alone, and difficult cases are reviewed on the spot rather than reported from stored images. The department also performs image-guided procedures — biopsies, aspirations, and drainages carried out under live ultrasound so the needle is watched throughout. AIROC Hospitals is a NABH and JCI accredited facility.
